Why go?
The Aiguille du Midi cable car climbs from Chamonix to 3,842 m, as close to Mont Blanc as you can get without being a mountaineer. With more than 16,000 Google reviews at 4.7, it is the most visited and best-rated site in the valley.
Good to know
A return to the summit costs from €60.20 to €83 depending on the day, and €43 to the Plan de l'Aiguille. The cable car is closed from 2 November to 18 December 2026 and reopens on 19 December 2026.
In winter it runs from 8:10am to 4:30pm. When everything is sold out online, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc releases tickets again the day before and sells some at the ticket office on the day.
Our advice
Look at the summit webcam before paying: on a cloudy day, you go up into a white-out. Take the first cabin, the light is better and the queue shorter.
