Why go?

The Plan de l'Aiguille hut is at 2,207 metres, near the mid-station of the Aiguille du Midi cable car. It is the stop on the Grand Balcon Nord, the trail that runs to Montenvers facing the Mer de Glace.

Its Google rating of 4.7 from nearly 500 reviews is the best of our huts.

Good to know

The hut announced an opening from 23 May to 31 October 2026, with accommodation and food. The cable car to the Plan de l'Aiguille costs €43 return.

Our advice

Go up to the Plan, have lunch at the hut, then walk to Montenvers along the Grand Balcon Nord and come down by train. Check that the cable car is running that day, especially between seasons.
