The verdict
The Hameau Albert 1er is the most complete house in Chamonix: a five-star hotel and Relais & Châteaux member, independent chalets, a fine dining restaurant, a country restaurant and a spa. It all sits in a park of about a hectare on route du Bouchet, away from the pedestrian streets.
Its Google rating of 4.7 from nearly 600 reviews reflects consistent hospitality. The tourist office lists it from €197, an off-peak starting price that says nothing about a week in February.
On site
The suites are all different, and the old-wood chalets suit families who want their own space. The Bachal Spa brings together a heated indoor-outdoor pool, a hot tub, a steam room and treatments.
The house has two restaurants: the Table Albert 1er, for fine dining, and La Maison Carrier, a country restaurant in an old farmhouse. The tasting menus noted in October 2026 cost €178 and €205.
Our advice
Allow seven minutes on foot to place Balmat and a quarter of an hour to the Aiguille du Midi cable car. For a ski stay, ask how the shuttle and the ski room work before booking.
