La Flégère gondola: practical guide to Les Praz
In Les Praz, the gondola climbs to La Flégère, facing Les Drus and the Mer de Glace. The starting point for Lac Blanc in summer and intermediate skiing in winter.

Why go?
La Flégère looks straight at the massif, towards Les Drus, the Mer de Glace and the Grandes Jorasses. The gondola leaves from Les Praz, about 3 km from the centre, with a station and buses close by.
In summer, it is the shortest start for Lac Blanc; in winter, an intermediate ski area linked to Le Brévent.
Good to know
In early winter, the lifts run from 8:50am to 4:45pm. The L'Adret restaurant is at the top, the Refuge de la Flégère a few steps away.
The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc announced works at the top station during summer 2026: a picnic room and toilets.
Our advice
For Lac Blanc, go up early and allow 1 hr 45 min of walking from La Flégère. Park in Les Praz or come by train to avoid the car park, which fills up on fine days.

Thibault Ravanel
Thibault led groups along the south balcony trails for eight summers, from Le Brévent to La Flégère. He builds his routes stopwatch in hand and cuts whatever does not fit into a real day. He would rather write that an outing is not worth the ticket than pad out a list.
