The verdict

The Basecamp is Chamonix's go-to craft beer bar, with 20 beers on tap, house brews and guest beers. Its Google rating of 4.6 from nearly 800 reviews is the best of our bars.

The beer comes from the Big Mountain Brewing Company, whose production brewery is in Cluses, in the Arve valley.

On site

A south-facing terrace, a big beer garden, an on-site microbrewery and a shop selling beer to take away. The kitchen serves pizzas, burgers, salads and sharing plates.

The bar says it opens every day from noon to 11pm, with a happy hour from 4pm to 5:30pm.

Our advice

Arrive before the lifts close to get a seat in the sun: returning skiers fill the terrace within half an hour. The Aiguille du Midi cable car is a few minutes away, ideal after the descent.
